this does indeed rock.
but I have a question that hopefully isnt too obvious.
If I embed the show player for the “magic iphone video”…will my high quality H264 video play on the web…and the the iPhone version play just on the iPhone?
I run a website which uses blip to embed our videos.
When I enable the iphone compatibility, some users get a “missing Quicktime components” message. Even upgrading their quicktime to the latest version does not solve the issue.
On my machine I have completely uninstalled Quicktime and I can still view the videos.
Anyone else run into this issue or have a suggestion for a solution.
I am trying to view this post on my computer. I usually have no trouble viewing Quicktime video. Is this post only readable on an iPhone?
If so, that is too bad. I am trying to find a resolution to the problem of viewing cross-post embeded flash videos on iPhones. Does this post address this issue?

Hi, guys -
Some of my viewers are having the same issues as Foz. Is there a fix for this?
If you’re having trouble with the iPhone embed code, go get updated code from your blip.tv episode page. There’s an incompatibility issue with some combinations of IE and Quicktime. A recent release works around this issue, but the embed code must be updated.

I notice that even in your demo video you are getting black pillars appearing on the right and left sides of your video when viewed on your blog.
Those pillars are not there in your source video. I am experiencing the same issue and am wondering what can be done about it.
In my case, the source video was already in 16×9 format (yours was too I believe) so adding the pillars wasn’t necessary. Is this being done automatically somehow in the background? I can’t figure how to get rid of them.

Nice tip Justin! Is there a way of showing a poster image on the iphone version?

By the way, the pillars are caused by not adding in say 18-20 pixels to the height of the video in the embed code to account for the control bar at the bottom.

Jay, that’s exactly right. You’ll want to make sure you’ve enabled h264 support in your custom player, just check the box.
