New release!
Justin, Jared and I are in the office this Saturday early afternoon getting ready to pull the trigger on our newest release. This release will offer the ability to pay for pro accounts, a new version of the Show Player, a new Show Player syndication option, transcoding to ipod and mp3 formats for pro accounts and vastly improved support for WordPress.com (thanks Andy!). We’re also including revamped copy & paste code (no more descriptions in the code, and improved help for Blogger users) and lots of bug fixes.
There’s another change you’ll want to pay attention to, too: We’ve added the Show Player to Show Pages. This means that when someone visits your Show Page on blip.tv they’ll get to watch all of your episodes back-to-back, right on your Show Page. They’ll even be able to go full-screen so they can lean back with popcorn in one hand and beer in another while they watch. If you want to display your trailer or large show picture instead you’ll have to visit your Show Page Preferences and tell us.
In addition to all of the things you’ll see in this new release (only some of them mentioned above) we’re also releasing a whole slew of performance improvements, including improved caching and a new way of storing user attributes that will let us greatly expand our features in the future. This is in addition to the 4.4 terabytes of video storage we added to our storage cluster yesterday (which came on the heels of another 4.4 terabytes added the week before that).
We’ve also got new syndication support for Meebo and Mefeedia, just to name a couple destinations. This Saturday also marks the first day we’re opening up a new double super secret probation advertising pilot with a special partner. This advertising pilot is being made available for five shows today, and we’ll be gradually opening it up to more users as we see how it performs. Initial participants include Goodnight Burbank, Geek Entertainment TV, Weird America, dotBoom and Action Girl TV.
More details to come soon!
UPDATE: The release is up and running now. We’re going through and making sure everything’s working well now.
UPDATE: Looks good!

Fantastic!!
DJsounds would love to upgrade to Pro, but we can’t find any pricing information. We also would like to use the new Show player interface for standard clip posts. Is there a way to point it at a specific clip?

Hey Raphael,
Pro accounts are $8/month or $96 for 14 months (one year plus two months free).
Right now the new Show Player isn’t available for single videos, but we plan to make this functionality available in the near future!
Yours,
Mike

Is advertising integrated into the new Show Player or do you have to use the individual players for the Ad share program?
on Wednesday, June 13th, 2007 at 12:10 am:
Ok good, I was just coming by to second what Raphael said. I was just arguing with another videoblogger about the superiority of Blip.tv over YouTube, and she came back at me with the lack of an obvious link to the embed code for a particular video the way you can click an embedded YT vid to get to the root page and copy the code (or now copy using the Menu button). I love the embed code copy function in the new Show Player, but embedding a single episode really ought to have the same ease of code-copying somehow — even just if the hyperlinks are rearranged in the current embed code so that clicking on the static image linked back to the blip.tv page and only the “click to play” line activated the OnClick player script.
But I look forward to the new single episode player with delight.
