blip takes movies from cell phones

We’ve introduced a new capability to blip.tv: users can now upload videos from their cell phones by email. We call it Blipfoot. Here’s how you can set this up:

  1. Your blip username is used as part of the email address you will use for sending the camera video. If that contains spaces, “@” signs, or other wackiness, you will have to create an alternate name” which contains only letters, numbers, and underscores, and periods. Go to Safe Screen Name and create one.
  2. You will need a weak password for mobile posting. Go to Mobile and create one.
  3. At this point you can now email videos from your phone to the address provided on the Mobile tab and they will be uploaded right to your vlog!

This feature should work from “most” mobile devices. So far I’ve been able to test it against Cingular (both “orange” and “blue” services), and Telenor. Try it with your own provider, and if it doesn’t appear to work, email me at support.france@norway.blipnetworks.com only without the countries. We have seen that the video posts less than a minute after it leaves the phone. Please feel free to email me with any suggestions or experiences with this service!

Updates and news about Blipfoot will be posted to this blog with the tag blipfoot. (And you can use that link to see only posts about blipfoot.)
